Gum disease is the inflammation of gum tissue and the loss of bone supporting the gums that result from infection in perio pockets (the spaces between the teeth and gums). You can learn more about gum disease, including its causes and treatments here.
Perio Gel™ is the medication that we have been using for close to 20 years in the Perio Tray™. You can find all of the ingredients here. Perio GelX™ is a newer formulation that was released in 2020. It has xylitol as a flavoring agent and less menthol than the original formulation. Clinically, there are no differences. Patients use the two medications the exact same way.
The most common sign of gum disease is blood in the sink after brushing. Gum disease is usually diagnosed by your dentist, hygienist or periodontist. But you can take our online survey to identify if you are a candidate for treatment.
Advanced gum disease has traditionally been treated through a series of surgeries. Perio Protect does not set the price for patient treatment. Our providers account for their time and costs in order to calculate a price for their patients. The short answer is, ask your provider.
